Hammer and Tong 412

Last weekend, I asked The Boyfriend out on a brunch date to Hammer and Tong 412 which is fast setting a great reputation for itself.

I've been wanting to try out this cafe for the longest time after reading raving reviews of this place and all I had to do was mention "soft shell crab" and I got the big nod from The Boyfriend. ;)

There was a short queue ahead of us, 3 couples to be exact, and I was quite glad it wasn't that long of a wait.

Unfortunately for our rumbling tummy, the staff mistakenly gave our table away to two groups of people who arrived after us. :(

I was a little upset but the staff was very apologetic and I knew it was an honest mistake, so we left it at that. Thankfully though it did not take long after that before we were seated.

Despite the cold wintry weather, The Boyfriend who would usually order his usual English Breakfast tea, had the housemade fizz Orangina instead, to which he scrunched his nose up at first sip.

I don't think he enjoyed it very much given how much of a sweet tooth The Boyfriend is. But it was refreshing and it did quench his thirst - that I was sure of.

The Boyfriend and I both already knew before we arrived what we wanted to order and that was the soft shell crab burger with sriricha mayonnaise.

O.M.G! It was out of the world delicious! I am drooling, just looking at my own picture above.

We couldn't even be bothered using the cutlery provided. One bite after another, as the mayo dripped messily all over the plate... We couldn't care less. We inhaled it!

Yeap, it was THAT good! I think it took us both only 10 minutes to finish our meal.

It was right about time when we had to rush back to the car before our time expired, so we quickly paid our bill.

To make up for their error, the staff stopped us in our tracks on our way out. "Hang on a minute, I'm getting you some treats to take home." He packed us a cookie and brownie each which I thought was a very lovely gesture.

Even without doing this, I would have returned anyway. But the absolutely top notch service makes me want to go back all the more. It's these little things that makes up the whole experience, doesn't it?

I'd love to try their fancier dinner menu some day, maybe I can ask The Boyfriend out for a dinner date this time around. ;)
