Proud Mary

I've heard so much about Proud Mary and have been longing to go since heaven knows how long ago. A friend and I popped by one late afternoon, but it was so packed and there was a long queue.

Our tummies were already growling, and there was a 30 minutes wait, so we decided to leave. Fortunately, this time around, I was lucky.

Just as Wan and I arrived at the door, a friendly waitress was calling out to "Kristyn for 2". No Kristyn showed up, so I raised my hand and said, "We're not Kristyn, but we've got 2."

She gave us a small smile and said, "Oh, come on in then!"

Proud Mary serves breakfast all day long, until 4pm on the weekends. I know because I sat there chatting away to Wan until then.

Being the coffee lover that she is, Wan ordered the cappuccino. Her dose of daily caffeine, according to her, was beautiful and aromatic. Just what she needed on a weekend! :)

My hot Magic Mocha was equally good, or maybe even better I'd say. It was delicious and lives up to its name. Impeccable, pretty and yummeh - I simply couldn't put my cup down.

Deserves two shots just because. ;)

I also liked the idea of using organic panela - dried whole natural sugarcane juice - as an alternative to sugar. My dear friend had one spoonful after another, and went, "Hmmm, taste so good!"

Thankfully the food came in time before Wan actually had more of these and get all sugar high. :P

I've heard so much about how good the pork belly sandwich is, served with smoked paprika relish and aioli. Oh heck, it is true!

But (yeah, there's always a 'but') I have to note though, that I went half-half with Wan.

It is no doubt good, but I probably wouldn't be able to finish the whole dish on my own as the pork belly was a little too fat for my liking.

I'm not a big fan of fats, so the fatty bits would definitely make me feel a little grossed out if I were to have both the sandwiches.

We also had the potato hash served with bacon, buttered spinach, bagna cauda, and a poached egg at the side.

I loved it! The egg was beautifully poached, the bacon crispy, and the combination goes well with the bagna cauda sauce.

It was a very satisfying brunch! Would I come back? OH HELL YES! For the Magic Mocha, and the wild mushroom with polenta the guy sitting next to me happily nom-ed away. :)

that magic mocha...is it 'magic' because of the pattern of the drink they made? or is 'magic' the name for another type of coffee like flat white, macchiato?

I am unsure as to why it is named Magic Mocha, but it is named as such on the menu. I do not want to make speculations and assumptions based on my own thoughts hehe.

I'm only here for a month and a bit returning back from Hong Kong, but have already visited this place like 6-7 times! I also really love Auction Rooms especially the food (but coffee wise, their espresso is drop dead gorgeous, but milk drinks are a little weak :S)

Going to so miss Melb when I leave here and back to HK again : D
