On cold wintry days, don't you just wish you could snuggle in bed all day long? I did exactly this last Monday. The only time I got out of bed was to shower, use the toilet, get water and snacks from the kitchen, then I was back in bed with my iPad and Running Man.
But I had a problem - dinner.
Having just returned from my holiday in Malaysia, I had nothing at home to cook (that's if I even bothered to) nor any instant cup noodles left (not that I eat this often). And as you would have guessed, I was too lazy (I blame the weather!) to change and head out to takeaway.
That was when I had a lightbulb moment! *ching*
A couple of weeks back, when I was still holidaying in Malaysia, I remember being offered a $30 voucher from Menulog to try out their services. Woohoo!! I was so excited haha. Food being delivered right to my door = lazy bum's pure bliss!
It was my first time using an online takeaway service but I was impressed at how quick and easy the ordering process was.
You simply had to key in either your suburb/postcode (ie. mine was Melbourne), and the system will automatically generate a list of restaurants that delivers to your area.
I, of course, without a doubt, opted for my favourite Korean food! And I chose Soolzip Korean Restaurant because it had the most star ratings amongst the other options that came up.
I have to admit I was rather impressed with the menu; they had everything! From donburi, to noodles, to stews even, and my favourite Korean Fried Chicken! And the ordering process was so simple!
I love how easy it was to navigate about, and when you see something you like, simply hit on the + button and it will be added to your order list on the right. And when you're done, simply hit 'place your order'.
You'll then be taken to the payment page where you will need to enter your details and delivery address. This is also where you can select your delivery time, i.e. you can place an order in the morning/arvo and have it delivered to your door at your desired time.
I placed the order at approximately 5.30pm and had my order delivered at 6.45pm. They arrived only a slight 5 minutes late, and that's totally understandable considering traffic and all. What I would suggest is if you're hungry, just have your order delivered earlier. ;)
You could even download the Menulog app, and place your order on the go. The process is similar - quick and fuss-free! ;)
And as you can see, some restaurants offer you 10% discount on your first order, which was an extra bonus for me.
There's also a small delivery fee which can vary from store to store but if it saves me the effort, I don't mind paying. Soolzip charges only $2.50, which was good.
Anyways! Let's get started with what I ordered. I was skeptical so I did not want to over-order, but I regretted immediately after my first bite.
The beef bibimbap, although lacking a bit of meat, came with a side of miso soup. But lordy, it was so delicious! Just like what you'd expect from restaurant standard, except less warm because they couldn't serve the bibimbap in the dolsot so I totally understand.
The egg yolk was still wobbly and gooey, and went really well with the Korean purple rice. Bibimbap cravings - checked! *happy tummy* :D
Next was the Fried Boneless Chicken with Pelicana Sauce that a few have raved about on their reviews. It came served with a side of coleslaw. And whoah, I was a little taken aback at how good it was!
Like I said, I was skeptical and had no expectations whatsoever, but the fried chicken really took me by surprise. The chicken still had a good crunch and the sweet chilli Pelicana sauce? It was amazeballs!
I am so having this again, sometime soon! And I highly recommend you to try too. So surprisingly good, it makes me want to head in store to have it right out of the fryer.
What I also love about K-food is the banchan (side dishes). Like you would at a Korean restaurant, we were also given some banchan (Korean fish cakes and potatoes) to go with our meal.
Apart from the portion being a little small (compared to the portion size you get when dining out for the same price), it was overall a fantastic experience.
Quick and too easy, especially on days when you're lazy to cook, or even head out to eat or takeaway, Menulog is a great alternative! And best of all, comfort of eating in your pj's! Heehee.
If you've never tried online takeaway and delivery before, I'd highly recommend you give Menulog a try. This is my first, and definitely would not be my last time.
And thanks to Menulog's generosity, one lucky reader stands the chance to win 1 x $20 voucher to try out their services! ;)

Ethiopian. My family had 'bad' Ethiopian once; overpriced and dismal quality. But I want to give it another chance. I'm that nice.
I'll be honest. Since I moved into my place 1.5 years ago, I haven't ordered in ever. I've had takeaway a handful of times before never ordered in.
I thought about it last week but just went and had 2 min noodles :P
It would be nice to not have to get changed and leave my cosy cave. Or have any dishes to do!
I love the stranger-training my fearful rescue dog gets... he's stopped barking at our Chinese food delivery man as he knows he comes bearing prawn crackers!!!!!
Thanks for the chance, we love Menulog!
Hmm... I would love to have a giant macaron tower delivered to my door, mainly to see if they could actually get it to me intact! It wouldn't matter anyway because I'd eat it even if it fell apart :p
